RAM NAVAMI

Ram Navami is considered to be religious and traditional Hindu festival. Hindu people celebrate this festival with great joy and enthusiasm. Ram Navami is celebrated on the occasion on the birth of Lord Rama.Lord Rama was the son of king Dasharatha and queen Kausalya. Lord Rama is known as the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Rama is well known for killing demon Ravana. Ram Navami is celebrated in spring season, according to Hindu calendar Ram Navami falls on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri every year. People believe that Lord Ram took birth in the ''Abhijeet'' muhurta or between 12:00 to 2:00 PM. People wake up early in the morning and clean their houses.

People in India celebrate this festival in different way. Many people fast on this day and eat only fruits until night time. Some visit a temple while others pray in their homes. People also pray with music and dance which is known as 'kirtan'. People sing songs to praise Lord Ram. Devotional music, mantras are also recited along with havan and katha. All the devotees go to either Ram or Hanuman temple and chant 'Jai Shree Ram' as a respect to the Lord. The epic story of Ramayana and the programs of Ram Leela are also organized on many places. The icon of baby Lord Ram is also worshipped. They wash it and put new clothes on it. Many people give food and clothes to the poor. 

This festival is very important in some states like Uttar Pradesh (Ayodhya), Bihar, Telangana, Tamil Nadu (Rameswaram). Rathayatras are taken out in many places, in which statues of Lord Ram, Lakshman, Hanuman, goddess Sita is placed on chariot. This chariot is decorated with flowers and lights. Chariot is taken from one place to another with joy and celebration. Some people also consider this festival to celebrate the marriage anniversary of Ram and Sita. Both of their statues are decorated as bride and groom. In India, this festival is celebrated by different names in different regions like Ram Navami in Maharashtra, Chaitra Navratri in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and in Karnataka it is known as Vasantosava. People prepare sweets, Prasad and Sharbat for worship in homes. 

Ram Navami has a great significance among Hindu. It is said that all the evil powers/energies are removed from the life of the person who worships Ram Navami and gets divine energy. This festival is also considered  as a occassion to purify oneself. The worship of Ram Navami starts by offering water to the Sun God in the morning. The Sun God is said to have been the ancestor of Lord Sri Ram. They are worshiped to get blessing from the supreme power.
